Presidential candidate Barack Obama promises a tax cut for 95% of Americans. What a lie and the American electorate is eating it right up like the fools they are. Anyone who is confident Obama will follow through on his 95 percent promise is letting naivety triumph over common sense. For starters, of this 95% Obama talks about, approximately 40% do not pay taxes, therefore, they would be given a tax credit handout, sounds somewhat like welfare to me. Secondly, in regards to the other 5% Obama wants to tax, I suppose it is their patriotic duty to pay more so Senator Obama can spread the wealth around. Thirdly, Obama’s brilliant tax plan would end up harming small business owners. Many small-business owners pay taxes on their business income as individuals, and if they are successful and employing people, they will pay higher taxes under Obama. This would be a tax on job creation, at the worst possible time. The Tax Foundation estimates that under the Obama plan 63 million Americans, or 44% of all tax filers, would have no income tax liability and most of those would get a check from the IRS each year. The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis estimates that by 2011, under the Obama plan, an additional 10 million filers would pay zero taxes while cashing checks from the IRS.

Senator McCain has a plan that will not raise taxes on anyone, lower the corporate tax rate (the highest in the world), freeze all government spending and perform a top-down review of the federal budget and remove wasteful spending. John McCain’s plan will grow our economy, keep families in their homes, create new jobs and cut wasteful government spending.

It is so important in this election to not only show how Senator McCain differs from Senator Obama, but also to why Senator McCain should be our next President. These are two very different approaches. As a former Democrat and former Senator Clinton supporter, I am proud to now talk, blog and spread the word on why Senator McCain should be our next President. It is so important to spread the message that all Americans can unite and throw their support behind John McCain. Why? Because he is a leader, he has experience, he has sacrificed for this great nation and he has a plan that will
1) grow our economy,
2) strengthen alliances worldwide,
3) support small business,
4) heal America’s ailing health care system,
5) support our veterans,
6) win the war on terror,
7) support and pass sensible immigration reform,
8) NOT raise taxes,
9) get America’s economy back on track and most importantly
……
10) draw upon a lifetime of EXPERIENCE to provide 21st Century LEADERSHIP. The McCain 10 point plan

As we draw closer to the November election, the polls are tightening and everything appears to be in a statistical dead heat, given the margin of error for polls. This proves one thing (the same thing proven during the Democratic primary), that Senator Barack Obama cannot buy this election. He outspent Senator Hillary Clinton 3-1 in many battleground states and still lost to her in those states. He has forsaken national financing and outraises McCain 4-1 and yet the polls are still in a dead heat. If Senator Obama were the true white knight we’ve all been waiting for, McCain and his polling numbers would be in the gutter. But they’re not. Why? Because Senator McCain and Governor Palin have proved one thing, and that is despite the media obsessed society we live in, a society that tracks the bowel movements of Paris Hilton, the issues still matter. And on the issues people are beginning to understand that keeping taxes low, curbing federal spending, eliminating pork barrel spending, expanding globalization, expanding nuclear power, allowing off-shore drilling, creating public-private partnerships to address health care costs and quality, asking Americans to put country first, standing up for freedom, security and our principals around the world, renewing and strengthening alliances, shaking up Washington and once again making America great is why US Senator John McCain is qualified to be our next President. They reject the taxation of corporate America (the same companies that feed us, cloth us and provide us with jobs), reject the notion of using politics for one’s own self promotion, reject talk for the sake of talk, reject chants and mantras and songs of praise and most importantly reject change for the sake of change and embrace the experience to bring actual change about. McCain and Palin have proven themselves, they’ve made the tough choices, they’ve sacrificed for their country, their children have also sacrificed for this nation by their service in Iraq and they have the grit, integrity, moral compunction, determination and leadership qualities needed by this great nation in our time of need. Together they will make this country strong again, our economy vibrant, defend our friends and allies around the world, stand up to aggression, heal our ailing health care system, get us to energy independence and invigorate the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of all Americans. This is not American Idol, the wizard behind the green curtain isn’t that great after all and the Piped Piper will lead you off a cliff. Don’t vote for eloquence, vote for leadership. Don’t vote for someone who just talks a good game, vote for someone who has literally walked the walk. Don’t vote for Obama. Vote Senator McCain this November and you will be voting for making the American dream reality once more.

Senator Obama’s plan for taxes
More of Promise- Retain President Bush’s tax cuts for families making less than $250,000 a year and provide more relief to the squeezed middle class by creating new tax breaks for lower-income families; extend the current “patch” that keeps the Alternative Minimum Tax, designed to make sure the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, from hitting more middle-class families; exempt seniors making less than $50,000 per year from paying income taxes, expand the tax credit for college and provide incentives to encourage savings, and help pay for child care and pay mortgage expenses.

Problem- Obama’s tax proposals come with a hefty price tag. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, a joint effort of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, estimates that Obama’s tax proposals would reduce projected tax revenue by $2.95 trillion over the next decade, compared to an estimate of what would happen if Bush’s tax cuts were to expire as scheduled at the end of 2010. This does not include the increase in cost of living adjustments people would encounter if Senator Obama had his way with imposing larger tax burdens on corporate America and imposing a windfalls profit tax. So how can Senator Obama pay for his long list of federal programs he wants if there is less tax revenue to pay for it with

Senator Obama’s position on health care
The promise: Obama would increase the number of people with health insurance by having the government subsidize the cost of coverage for low- and middle-income families. To help pay for that expense, Obama would increase taxes for those families earning more than $250,000. He also would require employers not offering health coverage to pay a percentage of their payroll toward a national health plan. And he would mandate that children have health insurance, and expand who can participate in Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

The problem: While the plan would help millions of people obtain health insurance, some health analysts say it falls short of universal coverage. The Tax Policy Center says the Obama plan would reduce the number of uninsured by 18 million in 2009, from the current figure of 45 million. That still would leave millions uninsured.

Obama’s plan would let people choose a public, Medicare-like plan or browse a shopping center of sorts for private insurance plans. The National Health Insurance Exchange would create rules and standards for participating private plans, and insurers would have to issue every applicant a policy regardless of pre-existing health conditions. Similar guarantees of coverage have been tried by a handful of states that let residents buy coverage directly from insurers, but it hasn’t always worked. Kentucky and South Dakota dropped their guaranteed-coverage mandates after insurers fled the market and premiums soared for younger, healthier individuals.

Again, Senator Obama’s inexperience shows. Here again we see Senator Obama’s willingness to tax everyone and anything in sight to pay for what he wants, regardless of the consequences of such action to our economy. Senator Obama is wrong on the issue of health care and appears just not able to get it or understand it.

Senator Obama’s energy stance
The promise- A short-term rebate of $1,000 per couple to help with rising energy costs; release of up to 70 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and investment of $15 billion a year over the next decade to encourage renewable energy, clean-coal technology and electric cars.

The problem-The next president will take the oath of office in January and confront an immediate crisis: The cost of heating homes is likely to be at record levels. Obama’s promised rebate relies on enactment of a windfall profits tax on big oil companies, which could take months and is by no means sure to get through Congress. The last time the nation had such a tax, from 1980 to 1988, U.S. reliance on foreign oil went up and the costs incurred by the oil companies from this tax was passed on to the consumer at the pump. His longer-term solution, encouraging alternative energy by creating a $150 billion clean energy fund, relies for financing on a program of selling pollution allowances to combat global warming that is even more uncertain. Under political pressure because of high gasoline prices, Obama has reversed course and said he would support limited lifting of a ban on offshore oil drilling.

The result- Obama is wrong on energy and doesn’t have a cohesive plan. Senator McCain will push for offshore drilling, push for new nuclear plants to be built, push for the further investment and development of clean coal technologies and invest and encourage private sector innovation in renewable resources. Senator McCain’s plan pushes both short-term and long-term solutions to the problem of energy independence. His plan calls a whole range of solutions in the energy matrix to finally secure the energy future of America.

Senator Obama‘s stance on defense
The promise: Pull all U.S. combat forces out of Iraq within 16 months, send more combat troops to Afghanistan and provide better care for wounded troops and veterans.

The problem: A troop pullout is feasible and conforms roughly to a withdrawal timetable advocated by the Iraqi government. But a 16-month timetable risks shifting responsibility to Iraq’s security forces before they are ready, and it gives the insurgents an explicit target date for waiting out the Americans.

Until forces are pulled from Iraq, there are none to bolster the force in Afghanistan. Balancing needs in those two countries will be an immediate challenge for the next president. There is a broad consensus on the need for more troops to combat an emboldened insurgency in Afghanistan and to train government troops there, but the trick is to accomplish that without giving up gains against the insurgency in Iraq and without robbing combat-weary soldiers and Marines of the rest periods they need. Moreover, Senator Obama has refused to acknowledge that the Petraeus Counterinsurgency Strategy, the “surge”, has worked and accomplished its stated goals, a strategy vocally supported and pushed for by Senator John McCain. Pulling out of Iraq too quickly will undo all of the gains secured by the surge. When it comes to defense and national security, Barack Obama just doesn’t stand up against John McCain.
Caring for veterans and the wounded entails enormous costs, and the scope of the health care requirements for returning troops is not yet fully known. The Pentagon got caught by surprise at the wave of health care demands — physical and mental — triggered by the Iraq war, mainly because it had not anticipated such a long and bloody conflict. John McCain understands the needs of veterans, a veteran himself, and will work to ensure that they receive the care and help they need to live out full and productive lives after returning from the battlefield.

Promise- Obama has pledged to attack the weak economy with another stimulus plan to follow the $168 billion package of tax rebates for individuals and tax breaks for businesses that Congress passed last February. Obama’s stimulus would include tax rebates, aid to state and local governments and increased spending for infrastructure projects. He would also increase spending in other areas such as alternative energy programs.

Problem- Obama’s spending plans and middle-class tax relief will collide with the hard reality of exploding budget deficits. The Congressional Budget Office projects this year’s deficit will hit $400 billion, driven by the weak economy and the stimulus package Congress has passed. Furthermore, the Bush administration is forecasting that next year’s imbalance will hit an all-time high of $482 billion. Deficits will remain high because of the growing demands on big government benefit programs such as Social Security and Medicare as the baby boom generation retires. Obama’s own ideas of big government programs will do nothing but further weaken our economy.

Job well done Senator McCain. In choosing Sarah Palin as your running mate, you have shown that you are the candidate to bring change to Washington. Governor Palin is from outside the Beltway. Unlike Senator Obama who chose a Washington insider, one that voted for the Iraq war, you Senator McCain have chosen a no nonsense politician who has a reputation for fighting corruption, bureaucratic inertia and for reaching across the political aisle to get things done for the citizens of her state. Governor Palin brings a freshness, hard work ethic and true bipartisan record to Washington rarely seen. And to those who say she is inexperienced she is not. She has more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket. She was a city councilwoman, a mayor and now governor. Granted, she may not have the foreign policy experience, but she has a great mentor- John McCain. And let us remember, she is not running for the number 1 spot, John McCain and Barack Obama are. It appears with the Democratic ticket, the mentor and more experienced candidate is in the number 2 slot and the man running for the top job is the one without the experience and the one who has a lot to learn. She brings a wealth of information and experience on domestic issues, especially on the economy and energy. Moreover, she is more than able to go toe-toe with Senator Biden. Senator McCain made a bold and smart choice… a surprising choice.
